Areas of Expertise
Counseling
I am trained as a therapist, and most of my work is done face-to-face, although I can accommodate Zoom sessions.
I use holistic, mindful, existential, and interpersonal frameworks. You are not a diagnosis. My role is to help you assume responsibility for your own life and make choices that will provide you with safety and a sense of personal acceptance and calmness.
Psychopharmacology
I use medication-assisted treatment (MAT) including Buprenorphine, oral and injectable Naltrexone as well as some home detoxification treatments. I am skilled in the treatment of manic depressive illness, depression, and anxiety. I do not treat adult attention deficit disorders. I believe that medications are a tool among many that we have to address dysphoria. Medication is never a stand-alone treatment in my practice.
Life Skills
My extensive career has allowed me to have access to many skilled providers whom I can refer to for specialty services, such as family therapy, forensics, court-related issues such as OUI, domestic violence violations, diversion programs, probation, and job-related issues.
My Approach
I have spent the bulk of my career working with men and women who are impacted by substance use issues. Given that for every individual with a substance use issue, there are usually 4 other people directly affected by substance use I have never been at a loss for clients. I collaboratively work with clients to assist them as they rebuild their lives. I have a direct but empathetic approach. I can prescribe medications for both psychiatric and substance use problems.
